Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Whiskers website, support communications, and the Whiskers macOS application. It describes how information is handled when you visit our site, contact us, use Whiskers, or enable a feature that relies on a third-party service.

We collect limited information needed to operate and improve Whiskers, respond to support requests, and keep the website and app reliable.

• Contact details you provide to us, such as your name, email address, and the contents of messages you send to support@whiskers.sh.
• Anonymized product-usage analytics from the app, such as feature adoption and reliability events. These events do not contain audio, transcripts, files, screen contents, names, email addresses, API keys, or other personally identifiable information.
• Privacy-masked website analytics and technical information generated by standard hosting and security infrastructure, such as page interactions, browser details, request timestamps, and server logs.

Whiskers is designed as a native macOS application with a local-first workflow. By default, dictation audio is processed on your device. Audio does not pass through Whiskers servers as part of the local transcription experience.

Transcripts, history, vocabulary, and related app data may be stored locally on your Mac so the application can function. That content is not included in Whiskers analytics. How long local data remains depends on your in-app settings and device-management choices.

Some Whiskers features are optional and may involve third-party services that you choose to enable.

• If you select a cloud transcription provider, the audio or data required for that provider to perform transcription will be sent directly to that provider.
• If you enable AI cleanup or enhancement, transcript text, not raw audio, may be sent to the provider you configure for that purpose.
• If you configure a custom endpoint or provider, the data required for that feature is handled according to the endpoint or provider you selected.

Your use of any optional third-party service is also subject to that provider's own privacy terms and policies.

Whiskers collects anonymized usage analytics to understand which features are useful and where the app needs reliability improvements. We also use privacy-masked website analytics to understand the public site and download journey. Neither system is intended to collect what you dictate or information that identifies you.

• Whiskers collects anonymized product-usage analytics from the app to understand feature adoption and reliability. These events do not include audio, transcripts, files, screen contents, names, email addresses, API keys, or other personally identifiable information.
• We use Microsoft Clarity on the marketing site to understand page visits, button clicks, and similar website interactions that help us improve the download flow.
• We do not intentionally send support messages, form contents, names, email addresses, or other personally identifiable information to our analytics systems.
• Where required, analytics may be gated behind regional consent controls before tracking is enabled.

• To provide, maintain, and improve the website and Whiskers app.
• To understand feature adoption and diagnose reliability trends using anonymized events.
• To respond to technical support and privacy inquiries.
• To maintain the security, availability, and integrity of the website and app.
• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

We retain personal information you deliberately provide, such as support messages, only for as long as reasonably necessary for support, security, and legal obligations. Information stored locally by the app remains under your control on your device unless and until you delete it. Anonymized analytics may be retained to compare product and reliability trends over time.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information under our control. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

• You may choose not to use optional cloud transcription or AI cleanup features.
• You may contact us to request access to or deletion of information we hold about you, subject to legal and operational limitations.
• Where a website analytics consent control is shown, you may accept or reject that website tracking.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date shown on this page. Material changes will apply prospectively unless applicable law requires otherwise.
